And then Facebook came around...

Day 63

As I may had said before, Facebook nowadays is my second favorite social media platform and well, today I just want to go over my first post over in Facebook, a platform I started using way back in 2007.  Prior to that though I used to check Hi5 on the regular, and related to social media, that was basically it if we don't count the ancient beast that were MSN Messenger or mIRC.

With Hi5 I started to dislike it a lot, because it allowed a level of customization that would make visiting different profiles a big hassle because you would find animations, different letter types and sizes, colors, etc, very different from one another which worked into the decrement of the user experience.

When Facebook came around, it was a mostly uniform experience, the interface was clean and pleasing to the eye which was something I was looking for at the moment.  According to my profile history, I started using the platform in September of 2007, and my very first post were the pictures of my 21st birthday, which happened in 2006 and I had those pictures sitting down on my computer since then.

Facebook provided the perfect platform to easily share the pictures among my family and friends, and well, that's what I did, and by checking my profile history, sharing pictures was all I did for the first few months of usage, no weird posts, just sharing pictures and doing that lasted until August 2008, where I started posting non-sense.

Anyways, going over the old pictures of my 21st birthday I can definitely see why I look so happy there:

  1. It was my birthday, duh.
  2. We were celebrating at home.
  3. My all-time favorite people were around, most of whom are still around until today.
  4. Alcohol was flowing and we were just drinking, talking and simply having fun.
My home in DR was for many years the gathering spot for me and my friends, why go out and spend the money we didn't have when we could easily just be at a house party with people that really matters around?

Day 18 Sitting down on the computer a bit earlier today particularly to prevent rushing into my ideas because it's too late and tiredness.   Every morning when I sat in my car to drive to work, I normally put my office address on the GPS to prevent (or mentally prepare) for any delay along the way and as "music" I tend to either be listening to "Elvis Duran and the Morning Show" or listening to some YouTube video. I'm 37 but I act 22

Day 79 Social media and their stupid quizzes and posts.  Today I went over my memories in Facebook and found one post from March 2009 where a friend of mine shared.  It was a lame quiz and based on the answers you are supposed to put the subject as: I'm (how old you are) but I act (what you got on the test). Remembering this day in particular

Day 2 Today has been just a regular day as any other day with the advantage that it was also a holiday, is always great not to work on a Monday.  By now, the day was going to end, and I almost failed to write a few paragraphs but here I go.  Nothing major to write about and I won't be going through my daily activities for the sake of writing and bore you with many trivial and unimportant things like: "I cook this" "I went to this place" "I hanged out with..." bla bla bla. I think the major event for today is my 15th anniversary of moving to the USA.  I almost forgot about it but Facebook reminded me of past posts and well, it was a nice reminder because it made me think on how much I've accomplished since moving here, from gaining total independence from my parents to creating a life, that, with its ups and downs, is at a point of relative pure joy.  It does, however, makes me think of the things I've left behind and the many sacrifices, worrie...
