"Omar, the most loved one"

Day 65 I purposely decided to skip the writing of the post last night, mostly motivated by the way I was feeling, and I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t just a thing of the moment and wanted to sleep it out first. As you know by now, these past few days I’ve been feeling a lot more anxious and stressed than usual but thankfully it has been coming down to way more manageable levels. So to summarize my feelings, I was just grateful and thankful and totally stress free and the reasons on to why comes down to the following: Playing an amazing retro game and actually going into it seriously - Paper Mario – a game that originally came out in 2000 on N64 but I never played it in its original form. I ended up getting it on Wii, Wii U and emulated but never got than a mere few hours every time I started it. This time around, on its switch re-release – I’ve been hooked for good. Watching a great TV show Sunday night – The last of Us – in which so far has been my favorite episode. Objective...

And then Facebook came around...

Day 63 As I may had said before, Facebook nowadays is my second favorite social media platform and well, today I just want to go over my first post over in Facebook, a platform I started using way back in 2007.  Prior to that though I used to check Hi5 on the regular, and related to social media, that was basically it if we don't count the ancient beast that were MSN Messenger or mIRC. With Hi5 I started to dislike it a lot, because it allowed a level of customization that would make visiting different profiles a big hassle because you would find animations, different letter types and sizes, colors, etc, very different from one another which worked into the decrement of the user experience. When Facebook came around, it was a mostly uniform experience, the interface was clean and pleasing to the eye which was something I was looking for at the moment.  According to my profile history, I started using the platform in September of 2007, and my very first post were the pictures o...

Day 56 This is becoming more and more common: not writing at night but writing the following morning.  Ugh, technically it keeps my motto of "one post a day" but it is a bit frustrating that I feel is becoming a bit of trend but hey, not trying to make excuses but these past few days I've been very busy and a bit more preoccupied than usual and to top it off, one of my cats is developing flu-like symptoms. Anyways, lets jump into the good news, skipping CrossFit on Saturday was actually one really good idea, you see, friday some of my close friends from DR arrived in Miami and stay with me for a night, early morning we decided to grab breakfast nearby which was great but then another friend from DR who was in town joined us at home for a drink and a chat. Afterwards, with my family I hit the town and took them to different places they haven't been, and we literally spent the whole day driving and walking around the city, having amazing food, running errands, having co...

Tigueres night out

Day 53 What a weird day!  Have you ever had those days when things start or a relative bad thing and progressively gets worse and worse? Well, that was today until 7:30PM that things got really good. It started with one of my cats waking me up way early than usual, then a clogged toilet, then a low-tire pressure, then sort of emergencies at work, then a suffering at crossfit.  I honestly thought of today as an atypical day in my life thankfully. But even though it was hectic, I didn't allow the stress to get the best of me, and at every issue I had I looked for permanent solutions or at the very least tackle the problem face front.  It would have been easier to cry and complain, but that wouldn't have solved the issue in hand, so there's that. On a side note I just want to mention that I will start to advertise a lot more my blog via social media.  Nothing too crazy but I want some additional inputs and criticism towards it.   For what is worth, I would hon...

Day 46 Can life be any weirder? So yesterday's post was mostly about Gloria and today, on our high school chat group, she sends some old picture of my classmates. I ask her to send more and she sends the following: Oh the cringe and "embarrassment". This is just one of the many poems we used to write to each other as some tame and stupid jokes among ourselves. This was over 22 years ago and well, I lot has passes since, but I can'...

A stupid day called "Valentine's"

Image
Day 45 Oh, Valentine's Day but call me cold-hearted and alike, but I've always, and by always, I mean ALWAYS, have thought that this day is purely commercial and not as innocent and pure as many thinks.  Initially my cynicism was due to simply being cold, but I quickly realized that it was all purely commercial and all the couples going crazy for a day and then they would be cheating on each other.   In my youth it was mostly known as "day of lovers or love" but then turned into "day of love and friendship" just to commercialize the shit out of it, not only with lovers, but also with friends, so call me a pessimist but that is the main reason I don't really care about this day, but also don't get me wrong, I would participate in Valentine's related things just for the sake of having a good time.  With all that said, I want to share one final thing related to this day, and it was time I was in Colombia on Valentine's Day: This was exactly 9 ye...

One song, Glory...

Day 12 The other day I was looking into my archives for certain pictures about a New Year's celebration in Miami Beach (day that, at some point I'll tell you the story) but I came across a picture of a friend, holding a Playbill from Rent.  It made me think about that day a little bit, in part because it was so long ago (2010) but also because that day, I genuinely started to like a lot the Broadway musicals. You see, up until that point, I wasn't really into musicals.  Yes, I may have seen many Disney movies and the occasional musical movie, but never really liked them on stage.  Prior to Rent, I may have seen three musicals on stage and funny enough two of them about Disney movies.   First was "Victor Victoria" in 2005, can't recall if it was with my parents or what, but I guess the only cool thing about it was that I got to see the glorious Freddy Beras-Goico and Cecilia Garcia on top of their game (both very well-known Dominican artists).  The second on...

Music for a sushi restaurant

Day 5 To be honest, at the moment, I'm just tired, exhausted, physically drained but not sleepy 😑but nevertheless, a good day.  My morning was way too chill at the office basically because Microsoft Office suite was not working on my laptop. I informed IT about the issue, where Word, Excel and more importantly Outlook were not working on my laptop, and they took basically the whole morning to fix the problem.  I hated the fact that without those SW, I could barely do anything productive, but a couple of meetings had me "entertained" until lunch time, time when they call me and finally fixed the problem. After that the day went as usual: home for lunch, office in the afternoon, back home and then CrossFit.  Since my nephew is leaving very soon and for the past few days we have not gone out, I decided to take out for dinner, and we visited a Sushi restaurant where a dear friend works. My friend introduced me to his manager and said something along the lines of "I know...
