Will, no, I can do this, don't...
Day 61
A few posts ago I said I wanted to dive deeper into my favorite channels from YouTube, and I have many. Channels that cover history, science, movies, music, news, gaming, technology, commentaries, some celebrities and a few YouTube personalities, all in all, 75 channels according to my list of subscriptions. Some I go over them on a daily basis, some every now and then, and some others that I just follow because I want to support the creators.
That said, I won't be going over the list today, but I will be going over though one of my favorite videos on YouTube ever. As I said in previous posts, this week has been a bit hectic for me and not feeling a 100% due to many things happening at the moment, yet this one video ALWAYS makes me laugh. And ever since I saw this video for the first time 12 years ago, I cannot stop remembering it.
I should be a pathology by now, but I wish I could let it go to go to something better, but after watching funny videos, I always go back to one of my all-time favorite ones. The video is fairly simple, is just this little girl (10 years old) trying to sing "I will always love you" like Whitney Houston but failing miserably at it. What makes the video so funny for me, is that it starts with this little glass-wearing round-faced little girl just relaxing at home trying to sing the song, and from there everything just goes downhill.
By the 10th second, she removes her glasses in a fit of confidence and excuses herself for failing, which I truly appreciate but what comes next is just pure madness. She starts to sing again, and every time she fails to hit the right note, she would either scream in a really high pitch or just flat-out curse.
As the video goes on, she grows more and more frustrated on how miserably she is singing, and her face is just like we say in DR "a poem". At some point she covers her face as if that would make her sound any better and then she confidently says, "that she can do this" and tries yet again to hit the note but this time around covering the whole camera. As she uncovers the camera, she confidently starts singing louder but realizes that she will fail again and ends with "oh fuck off".
After this video became viral, I couldn't stop watching it, you would say "oh but you are laughing at a little girl" and that's true but at the same time I was like "nah this is just a video and I'm not commenting and sending her any bad ill". Anyways, as time went on, I became weirdly intrigue on what happened with her since she disappeared from YouTube shortly after video became viral, and to my surprise I came across an article a few years ago were someone, who I guess is as dumb as me, bumped with her at a party and well, an article was made about it - The ‘psycho girl’ singing Whitney Houston was at a house party in Salford on Friday (thetab.com) -
It happens that her real name is Alisha Barnard from the UK and she is pretty cool about the video even though she confesses it made her uncomfortable at the time since she was just a little girl and would receive (inexplicably) lot of hate for a silly video - she was even featured in Cosmopolitan UK magazine about her ordeal of become viral - Life after being a meme: "I will always love you" girl (cosmopolitan.com)
As a result of becoming viral, obviously many parody videos were made, and the joke kept on going for a few years after the original video was posted in 2011.
Anyways, the video is below, make sure to watch with headphones on and with volume in maximum level. I hope it makes you laugh as much as it does to me, it literally puts on a good mood right away
P.S. - Don't hate me - I'm that dumb :P
